AIRPORTS: – Vigo is the closest airport, 35 minutes from the house. It has direct flights from Barcelona, Madrid, Bilbao and Valencia.
There are usually Lisbon (TAP) and London Luton (Iberia, July to September) flights but they seem to come and go. – Santiago is 1h15 from the house and has daily flights from Gatwick (Easyjet) and Stansted (Ryanair) and many z. – La Coruña (A Coruña) is 2 hours north of the house and has daily Vueling flights from Heathrow at 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., the return leaves at 6:15 p.m. and arrives at 7:15 p.m. – Porto is 1h45m from the house and has several flights a day (BA, TAP, Easyjet and Ryanair).
An automated car rental highway toll card is essential.
The main car rental companies do not charge extra for driving in Spain, but Sixt and the local ones do.
Portugal is in the same time zone as the United Kingdom. Arranged taxis from Vigo airport cost €40, Santiago €130 and Porto €150. No you need a car once at the house to go to the beach and two local restaurants or walk around the coast, but you’ll need one for shopping. Taxis from Cangas cost about €12.
